Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet mess in one session and without the need to switch between devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer at a modest price, and it’s one of the most simple robots we’ve tested to set up. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.

For instance, you can request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models can’t. Its only issue is that the robot is known to smash into objects and walls at full speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning on the app will show you exactly what the robot completed, where it’s traveling, and what obstacles he has run into or avoided.

The docking station comes with a handy LCD screen that displays when maintenance is needed, such as emptying debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of the eufy’s solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend, though we would have liked to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company’s most popular robot vacuum and mop. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. Like the other two Roborock models I’ve tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It then can alter its course automatically and clean them without stumbling.

It’s the most expensive model I’ve tried and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular style is striking and has just three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin automatically refills.

The only negative I discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn’t removable. You can replace the mopping cloth when required, but it’s not easy to remove the mount for manual washing. I’ve found any plush carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number smart features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You’ll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It’s a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.

The side brush automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots, which is a nice touch that assists the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Contrary to other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas or vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is intuitive and simple to use, and the X40’s smart features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress, and alert you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station will automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also tell when the mop pad is full and notify you before it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It does have a number of characteristics that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature in its mops, uses two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and smaller dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven’t seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.

There are plenty of options, including the option to schedule cleanings and change preferences. The app allows you to define these preferences, or utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has many options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also has several functions that are not available on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we’ve seen in the market, with metallic and white colors that looks classy and sophisticated. It’s a bit heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this list but it’s not excessively heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
