The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors with no effort. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot’s brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They have motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot’s performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the Q5’s shortcomings is its navigation system doesn’t have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It’s also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn’t also have a camera that can see around corners.
It’s still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it’s quiet and can work while you’re at work, or at school. It doesn’t have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It’s also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don’t stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It’s the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn’t as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It’s not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors’ Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It’s more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven’t seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors’ compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company’s robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It’s the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you’re trying to sleep.
It’s also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it’s going to cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. robot vacuum cleaner uk Robot Vacuum Mops to Ecovacs’ range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock’s S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum’s dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn’t foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they are.
For bigger homes, it’s worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we’ve tried. It’s self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any “no-go” areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn’t double as an emptying bin.
